ABOUT

The Society of Wetland Scientists at UIUC is a student association of the SWS North Central Chapter and a registered student organization at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

We are interested in promoting and sharing our passion for the wetlands of Illinois. Our goals are to provide a space that encourages our community at UIUC and throughout Central Illinois to learn about and become active in the conservation and preservation of wetlands. Through research, workshops, outreach opportunities, and volunteer efforts, we aim to encourage wetland stewardship and protection.

Our Goals:

  • Offer educational opportunities in wetland science and conservation

  • Organize volunteer and stewardship events to engage and educate our community on wetland conservation and restoration

  • Provide a platform for the development of research and inquiry into wetland science

  • Encourage wetland science literacy at UIUC and across the greater community of Champaign Urbana

Future events may include monitoring projects and community science projects, wetland restoration stewardship events, identification workshops, and field trips to wetlands across the state.
